FIVE BEST UNIVERSITIES IN NIGERIA FOR STUDYING ARCHITECTURE WITH REQUIREMENTS

Best university to study Architecture in Nigeria
While we could have just told you about one great university you can attend to study Architecture in Nigeria, we have decided that it would not be enough. Besides, it is quite hard to determine which of the following universities is actually better than others. So we leave that part to you, as we list these universities with their entry requirements for Architecture. Universities are listed in no particular order.

1. University of Jos
Unijos
Location: Jos, Plateau State
Founded in: 1975

One of the top universities in the country that offer Architecture is the University of Jos. Their four-year Architecture programme is among the best in the country, and it is quite affordable, too. Here are the admission requirements:

Direct Entry: You will need 2 A level passes, one of them being either in Maths or in Physics, and the other one in Fine Arts, Geography or Chemistry. In addition, you will also need an Ordinary or Higher National Diploma with upper credits in fields that are relevant to the programme. UTME requirements should be met as well.
UTME: You will need 5 SSCE credit passes in Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics and in one other relevant subject. Find the full list here. Unijos also accepts 5 O level passes (or their equivalent) in Math, English, Physics, Fine Arts/Technical Drawing and any subject among Economics, History, Chemistry and Geography.
UTME subjects: English (compulsory), Mathematics, Physics and any of Economics, Art, Chemistry, Biology and Geography.

2. Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola
MAUTECH
Location: Yola, Adamawa State
Founded in: 1981

Another great option is MAUTECH. You could remember it as Federal University of Technology Yola, but it has since rebranded. Once again, you can study Architecture at this great university for a reasonable price (₦15,900 per year). Check out the admission requirements:

Direct Entry: You will need 2 A level passes in Physics or Maths, as well as in Fine Arts, Geography or Chemistry. You will also need an Ordinary or Higher National Diploma with upper credits in fields thathat are relevant to the programme. UTME requirements should be met as well.
UTME: You will need 5 SSCE credit passes in Maths, English, Chemistry, Physics and in one other relevant subject. Find the full list here
UTME subjects: English (compulsory), Mathematics, Physics and any of Economics, Art, Chemistry, Biology and Geography.

3. UNILAG
Location: Akoka, Yaba, Lagos State
Founded in: 1962

Often dubbed as THE best university in Nigeria, University of Lagos offers a great Architecture programme for its students. Here are the requirements you need to meet in order to study there.

Direct Entry: You will need 2 A level passes, one of them being in Physics or Maths, and the other in Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Biology or Chemistry. You will also need an Ordinary or Higher National Diploma with upper credits in fields that are relevant to the programme. UTME requirements should be met as well.
UTME: You will need 5 O level passes in Math, English, Fine Arts/Technical Drawing, Physics and in one of the following: Biology, Geography, Chemistry, Economics or Painting and Decoration/Building Construction.
UTME subjects: English (compulsory), Mathematics, Physics and any of Economics, Chemistry, Biology and Geography.

4. Obafemi Awolowo University
Location: Ile-Ife, Osun-State
Founded in: 1961

The Architecture programme at the Obafemi Awolowo University has existed since 1982 and has produced more than a thousand highly skilled graduates. If you are interested in enrolling, check out the admission requirements.

Direct Entry: You will need a General Certificate of Education (or the equivalent of GCE) with advanced level passes in Physics, Maths and another subject of your choice. You will also need an Ordinary or Higher National Diploma in Architecture with an upper credit. UTME requirements should be met as well.
UTME: 5 credits in your Senior School Certificate (or their equivalent) in Maths, English, Physics, as well as in two other subjects (Economics, Fine Arts/Technical Drawing, Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science or Chemistry).
UTME subjects: English and Maths (compulsory), as well as two other subjects among Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Physics or Technical Drawing.

5. Olabisi Onabanjo University
Location: Ago Iwoye, Ogun State
Founded in: 1982

Last but not least, we have Architecture programme from Olabisi Onabanjo University. If you want to study there, here are the requirements you should meet.

Direct Entry: You will need 2 A level passes, one of them being in Physics or Maths, and the other in Fine Arts, Chemistry or Geography. You will also need an Ordinary or Higher National Diploma in a relevant field with an upper credit.
