Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon appears to confirm retirement after red card against Real Madrid
Champions League
_
Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon has all but confirmed his retirement following Wednesday’s dramatic Champions League quarter-final against
Real Madrid .
_
The 40-year-old was widely expected to hang up his gloves at the end of the current campaign, though had suggested he could play for one more season if Juve won the Champions League.
_
Buffon would have stepped aside for Wojciech Szczesny to become the undisputed No.1, though was keen to try and add the Club World Cup to his trophy cabinet.
After the dramatic events at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night, in which Real were awarded a controversial penalty and Buffon saw red, there was some speculation that the veteran might reconsider his plans to retire.
_
But, despite his last ever Champions League appearance ending in infamy, Buffon appeared to confirm that he still intends to quit at the end of the season despite the heartbreak he suffered.
