Saraki Visits Kwara Corps Members Over Colleague’s Death

Senate President Bukola Saraki on Sunday visited the Orientation Camp of the National Youth Service Corps in Kwara State to condole with corps members over their colleague’s death.

Saraki on his twitter handle expressed delight with the reception he received from the corps members.

During the visit, Saraki assured the corps members of the safety, noting that the measures have been put in place to ensure their wellbeing

He also encouraged the youths not to relent in making Nigeria great, adding: “I heard about the tragic passing of Miss Hilda Amadi earlier this week at the NYSC Camp in Kwara. So, this afternoon (Sunday), I went to spend some time with the Corps Members at the camp to reassure them that their safety, wellbeing and development remains our priority.

“I am encouraged by the energy of our youths and filled with hope for the future.”

It will be recalled that female corps member, Miss Amadi Eva Ichechukwu, who was  undergoing orientation at the Yikpata NYSC orientation camp in Kwara, died on Thursday.

The late Ickechukwu, with NYSC registration number  KW/18A/0135 who hailed from Rivers,   died at a hospital in Ilorin she had been referred to.

Late Ichechukwu was among the 1,937 2018 Batch A corps members recently deployed to Kwara.

She studied Petroleum and  Gas Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt.

Following her death, the NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Mr Amaefule Remigius, appealed to members of the public to avoid unnecessary speculations about the circumstances that led to the death of the corps member.

“This is not the time to hastily jump into conclusion about the root cause of her death,” Amaefule added.

He said the NYSC was waiting for medical findings and report from the NYSC referral hospital to ascertain the cause of her death.
