NYSC Speaks On Death Of Seven Corps Members In Taraba River

The sad story started yesterday when 9 Corp members lost their lives in Taraba. It was indeed a very sad story that hit again. We were just recovering for Oscar whose last words was "Help me Collect My Allawee" before he died. And yet here is it again.

Yesterday we reported that 9 Corp members drowned during a picnic by riverside in Taraba.

The Taraba State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Florence Yaakugh has spoken on the death of seven corps members, who drowned during a picnic at River Mayo-Selbe in Gashaka Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Yaakugh said that seven bodies have been recovered while the search for the other two bodies among those who drowned was ongoing by the locals in collaboration with security agencies and the NYSC.

While describing the incident as most regrettable and unfortunate, Yaakugh said that the NYSC would soon have the identity of all corps members involved and make such known appropriately.

“We have information indicating that about nine of our Corps members were drowned in Gashaka on Saturday.

“So far, seven bodies have been recovered and we are working with other relevant persons to recover the rest and to identify the persons.

“This is a very sad development and the entire NYSC family in Taraba state is already thrown into deep mourning,” NAN quoted her as saying.
