Udom Hails NYSC For Healing Civil War Injuries

The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has commended the roles played by the National Youth Service Corps, saying it had healed the injuries of the civil war.

Emmanuel said this on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of the 2017 Batch B Pre-mobilisation workshop in Uyo, noting that the scheme had brought some measure of unity and stability to the country.

The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo, described the NYSC as a confidence and bridge-building project, aimed at restoring the robust belief in one Nigeria.

Emmanuel said, “All Nigerians must ensure that the National Youth Service Corps, which is a signpost of our unity and progress, remains one of the binding cords, which keeps us together as a nation. The theme of the 2017 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop, which is “Consolidating the Gains of Online Integrated System through Best Practices in the Mobilisation Process,” underscores the need to sustain the accomplishments of the NYSC, and to ensure that participants are more equipped to deliver better service.”

The NYSC Director General, Brig. Gen. Sulaiman Kazaure, said the workshop would provide an opportunity for strengthening inter-agency collaborations towards greater efficiency in the mobilisation process.
